What is the Instagram DM character limit?

Meta’s Messaging API limits DM text to 1,000 bytes of UTF-8: about 1,000 plain-English characters, fewer with emoji or non-Latin scripts. The DM character counter shows both characters and bytes, emoji included, so you can check a message before sending.
