Every paid plan’s own article carries both prices, Business at $99 and Advanced at $199 on monthly billing included. ManyChat’s subscription guide lists the annual figures only, and that guide is the likeliest source of the annual-as-monthly mix-up.

An active contact is anyone you exchange messages with inside a billing month. Each person counts once. ManyChat’s help centre puts it this way:

“An Active Contact is a contact who has interacted with you through Manychat during your current billing month.”

Two reasons come up repeatedly, and both are about billing rather than features.

The first is the contact meter. A post that takes off brings hundreds of new people into one billing month. Those people are exactly who you wanted. On a contact-metered plan, they are also the bill.

The second is the free tier. ManyChat’s free plan includes 25 active contacts, confirmed in its help centre on 15 October 2026. Twenty-five is a slow afternoon for a mid-sized creator account.

Three things matter more than the feature list.

It has to run on Instagram’s official API rather than your password. It has to handle private replies properly. A private reply is the single automated message Instagram lets a tool send to someone who comments on a post or Reel.
