Will this get my account banned?
Short answer: no — because avoiding that is the entire design. Here’s exactly how BuzzWire keeps your Instagram account safe, with the real limits we enforce on every send.
Built on Meta’s official API — not browser bots
The single biggest reason creators get banned is unofficial tools — browser bots and scrapers that log in as you. BuzzWire never does that. We use the official Instagram Graph API and connect through Meta’s own login, so we never see your password. That carries a small fraction of the ban risk of unofficial bots — and it’s the base every other safeguard builds on.
Four layers of automatic protection
Every DM passes through all four before it’s ever sent. They run automatically — there’s nothing to configure.
Automatic rate limits
A sliding-window cap holds every account at 200 DMs/hour and warns you at 90%. Even if a reel goes viral, sending stays under Meta’s ceiling — you never have to think about it.
Per-user cooldown & engagement window
We only message people who commented or DM’d you first — never cold outreach. Each person gets at most one DM per 24 hours, enforced with a hard cooldown.
Content safety
One external link per DM, URL shorteners blocked, and prohibited-content checks at the moment you save a flow. Multi-link, shortened spam is the fastest way to get flagged — so we don’t allow it.
Human delays & warm-up
Every reply waits a random 8–20 seconds so it never looks robotic. New accounts ramp up gradually instead of blasting from day one.
We pause before a warning becomes a ban
BuzzWire monitors your account’s health continuously. We watch your opt-out rate, and if Meta sends a policy-enforcement signal, we automatically pause sending so it can’t escalate. You’re always in control too — pause and resume any time, with one click in Settings.
…and how BuzzWire protects against each
What BuzzWire will never do
Never your password
You connect through Meta’s official OAuth. BuzzWire never sees or stores your Instagram password.
Never cold DMs
We message only people who engaged with you first — comments, DMs or story replies.
Never scraping or bots
No browser automation, no scraping. Only Meta’s official Graph API.
Never URL shorteners
Shortened links are a classic spam signal, so they’re blocked at flow save.
The technical questions
What exactly is the 24-hour window?+
Meta’s messaging policy lets you reply to someone for a limited time after they engage with you. BuzzWire only sends automated DMs to people who commented, messaged, or replied to your story — and respects that window. We never message people who haven’t interacted with you.
What happens if Meta flags my account?+
If Meta sends a policy-enforcement signal for your account, BuzzWire automatically pauses sending so a warning doesn’t escalate into a ban. You can also pause and resume sending yourself, anytime, with one click in Settings.
What data do you store, and can I delete it?+
We store the contacts and conversation data needed to run your automations. If a message is deleted on Instagram, our webhook clears the stored copy. You can export or remove your contacts at any time.
Why is replying to DMs safer than comment automation?+
When someone DMs you first, that’s the strongest possible consent signal — they started the conversation. BuzzWire treats inbound-DM keyword replies as the lowest-risk automation, while still applying rate caps, delays and opt-out handling.
What happens if my post goes viral?+
Your protections don’t change. The 200/hour sliding-window cap and per-user cooldown keep sending safe no matter how many comments come in — extra engagement simply queues within safe limits.
BuzzWire uses Meta’s official Instagram messaging API and follows its messaging policies, including the 24-hour window for promotional replies. BuzzWire is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Instagram or Meta.
