In short:

  • Most Instagram creators earn about $100 to $1,000 per sponsored Reel, and the jump to five figures only comes with hundreds of thousands of followers.
  • Later's creator survey puts the median Reel fee at $100–$200 under 10K followers, $200–$1K at 10K–100K, $1.5K–$5K at 100K–500K and $5K–$7K+ above 500K.
  • A static post usually costs about 50–60% of a Reel, and Stories are the cheapest deliverable, per Aspire.
  • On Collabstr's marketplace the average Instagram deal was $193, and about 80% of deals were under $300.
  • Instagram itself pays through subscriptions (10,000+ followers) and gifts (500+ followers), on top of brand deals.

Sources: Later (survey of 500+ creators, 23 Jan 2025), Aspire (survey of nearly 1,200 creators), Collabstr 2026 Influencer Marketing Report (2025 marketplace data, 21,000+ collaborations), checked 22 Oct 2026. Rates vary a lot by niche, engagement and usage rights; treat these as ranges, not prices.

How much do Instagram influencers make per post?

The best public benchmark is Later's survey of creators, which reports the median baseline fee for one sponsored Reel by follower tier:

TierFollowersMedian fee per Reel
NanoUnder 10K$100–$200
Micro10K–100K$200–$1,000
Mid-tier100K–500K$1,500–$5,000
Macro500K–1M$5,000–$7,000+
Mega1M+No published median; deals start above the macro range

Later's figures were published in January 2025, so 2026 rates in your niche may differ. Aspire's survey gives a nano Reel median of $250, with the middle half of creators between $150 and $400, a close match.

How much does a post, carousel or Story cost compared to a Reel?

Reels are the headline deliverable. Aspire's data puts other formats relative to it:

  • Static post: about 50–60% of the Reel rate
  • Carousel: 25–33% more than a static post
  • Story: the cheapest deliverable, and often bundled with a post or Reel

So a micro creator charging $600 for a Reel might quote about $300–$360 for a static post and about $400–$480 for a carousel.

What do most Instagram deals actually pay?

Survey medians describe what creators charge. Marketplace data shows what brands pay. On Collabstr, the 2025 average Instagram deal was $193, and about 80% of all deals cost under $300. That's because most deals go to smaller creators. If you have under 100K followers, a few hundred dollars per deliverable is normal.

Other ways creators price a post

Two rules of thumb show up in industry guides:

  • $100 per 10,000 followers, a rule Hootsuite attributes to many brands. Simple, but it ignores engagement.
  • Followers × engagement rate × $0.05–$0.15 per engagement, a method Shopify attributes to many influencers and agencies. Better for small accounts with strong engagement.

Both are starting points. Check yours with our free Instagram money calculator, then turn it into a one-page price list with the influencer rate card generator.

What raises an influencer's rate?

  • Engagement: brands pay for people who act, not followers who scroll. Know your rate; our engagement rate calculator shows it with benchmarks.
  • Niche: brands pay more for audiences that are hard to reach or likely to buy.
  • Usage rights: if a brand wants to run your video as an ad, charge extra for it, usually as a percentage on top.
  • Exclusivity: promising not to work with competitors for a period is worth a fee.
  • Proof of results: link clicks, codes used and leads collected let you charge for outcomes, not just reach.

How Instagram itself pays creators

Brand deals aren't the only income. Instagram's own monetization tools have published minimums: subscriptions need a professional account with at least 10,000 followers, and gifts on Reels need at least 500. The full list is in how to monetize Instagram.

A tip for creators

Show brands what your audience does, not just how big it is. A keyword in your caption, like "Comment LINK for the product", sends the brand's link to everyone who comments by DM, and the number of people who asked is proof you can put in your next pitch. BuzzWire does it free with comment-to-DM.

FAQ

How much do Instagram influencers make per post?

Most charge about $100 to $1,000 per sponsored Reel. Later's survey puts median Reel fees at $100–$200 for under 10K followers, $200–$1,000 for 10K–100K, $1,500–$5,000 for 100K–500K and $5,000–$7,000+ above 500K. Static posts usually cost about half to 60% of a Reel.

How much does an influencer with 10K followers make?

At the 10K–100K tier, Later's median Reel fee is $200–$1,000, so a creator just above 10K followers is usually at the lower end, around $200. Engagement, niche and usage rights move the number. The $100-per-10K-followers rule of thumb gives about $100.

How much do influencers with 100K followers make per post?

Around $1,500–$5,000 per sponsored Reel, the median range Later reports for 100K–500K followers. A static post at that size is usually about 50–60% of the Reel price, and adding usage rights or exclusivity raises it.

Does Instagram pay you for followers?

No. Instagram doesn't pay per follower or per view by default. Creators earn from brand deals and affiliate links, and from Instagram's own tools like subscriptions (10,000+ followers) and gifts on Reels (500+ followers), which have eligibility rules.
