24 Instagram DM Templates for Coaches and Consultants
A Reel about why your client’s launch flopped does 30,000 views. Forty people comment “AUDIT.” Thirty-five of them are browsing. Five of them have a budget and a deadline.
For a nutrition coach the problem with that is volume. For you it’s the opposite: answering all forty is easy, and useless. The job is finding the five without spending a week in the DMs to do it. These 24 flows are built around that — each one delivers something real, then asks the single question that sorts a browser from a buyer.
Each is a complete unit: post idea → trigger keyword → the exact DM with spintax → the qualifying line. If you want the mechanism rather than the scripts, how comment-to-DM automation works covers the whole build; what BuzzWire does for coaches and consultants covers the product side. This page is just the copy.
The qualifying line is the whole trick
One difference from every other template roundup, and it’s the reason this pack exists. Most DM templates end with a link and stop. In a coaching funnel that’s a wasted message, because the link doesn’t tell you who’s worth your calendar. Every template below ends instead with one question whose answer segments the lead — budget, timeline, team size, or where they’re stuck.
You get that second message because they replied to the first. That’s the mechanism, and the trigger and capture features handle the plumbing. What matters here is the copy: ask something a serious buyer answers in four words and a browser doesn’t answer at all. Three questions that do the most sorting, in order:
- “What’s your revenue right now, roughly?” — the fastest budget filter that doesn’t read as rude, because it’s diagnostic.
- “Are you looking to fix this in the next month, or is it a someday thing?” — timeline, which predicts close rate better than enthusiasm does.
- “Is this you solo or do you have a team?” — scopes the engagement before you’re on a call.

Two rules specific to coaching flows
Everything else about writing these — spintax, one link, one keyword per post, catch-alls — is covered in the automation guide. Two things are particular to this niche:
- Never automate the second question in a mindset flow. Templates 7–12 hand off to you at the first sign of weight. An autoresponder answering “I think I’m burnt out” is the version of this that ends badly, and it’s a scope line as much as a copy one.
- Tag the export by keyword before it reaches your CRM. SCRIPT and PROPOSAL are buyers with a live problem; AM and BRAVE are top of funnel. Same list, very different follow-up. In-DM lead capture collects name and email in the thread and exports to CSV — BuzzWire captures and exports, it does not send email.
What this costs
Free forever: unlimited automations, no contact caps, one Instagram account, every commenter answered at the pace Instagram expects. Free DMs carry a “Powered by BuzzWire” badge. Pro at $9.99/mo (or $79/yr) removes it and adds the qualifying-line capture above, CSV export and follower gating — full plan detail. Coming off a metered tool, the switching notes cover running both on one post before you cut over. The safety mechanisms are listed on the compliance page.
FAQ
Can I use these if I’m a consultant rather than a coach?
Templates 19–24 are written for that — project work, retainers and proposals rather than programmes. The qualifying lines change more than the scripts do.
Should the qualifying question go in the first DM or the second?
Second. The first message delivers what you promised; their reply is what earns you the second. Asking first spends your one message on a question.
Where are the other niches?
The template library lists every pack as it ships.
